I shall add to this a bit later.

I seem to be having some odd issues in using certain Window Blinds.

Example-

While logged onto my machine, I step away, so hit the windows key and l (lock the desktop) and after returning, there is always one icon missing from my desktop.

This only happens using a few window blinds.

If I have align icons to grid unchecked, this does not happen.

Help!

which one's missing?
how many icons on your desktop?

Hi

There are 32 icons currently on my desktop. Usually happens with the one on the lower left (number 13 or 14 on left side)

The thing is, it only happens using certain blinds.

Thanks.

does using those blinds also change the spacing around your icons?

Hello

I'll try to describe this as best as possible.

Applied one of the lbinds that causes this for me (the Trooper blind)

Normally, I have 2 rows of icons on this user account. I re-enabled align to grid. Chose the Trooper blind. Locked the desktop, unlocked it, and instead of 2 rows of icons, there were 3.

The icon on the 1st row, 4th from the bottom was missing, it ended up pushing another icon into a 3rd row.

So, maybe some of the blinds changes the spacing? I'm also using Iconpackager btw.

Thanks again.

That's probably what it is. Perhaps the taskbar becomes larger than what the icon spacing will allow, hence making 2 rows into 3. The same thing happens if you change your resolution from say, 1280x1024 to 1024x768. The icon spacing has to make up for the lost space somehow.

you'll also see them move if you grab your taskbar and drag it up taller (or move to the sides or top)

Hi

Thank you for the replies. Hm, so is there really any way to prevent this? (Well, besides unchecking align to desktop)

I tried moving the taskbar up and down, and sure enough, the icons moved around.

Thank you again for your replies. At least I know that I'm not going crazy now.

not really that I know of

is so your icons will be there if you create new taskbars and put them on the other edges of your screen

i got tired of it long ago - so i unchecked show desktop icons and use a shortcut to the folder in Object Dock free.

Thanks! That's a good idea. I do have Object Dock so I'll use that.

I couldn't figure out how to get 'desktop' in the shortcut... so I first pointed the shortcut to a pic in the folder so it showed something like:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\Image1.bmp

then deleted the "\Image1.bmp"
